LISTENING TASK

Today’s listening features the Woodwind Family. This is a piece by Shostakovich, a Russian composer for Wind Quintet. That means there are five musicians playing. One instrument is featured that doesn’t belong in the Woodwind family but it blends in very well with the other woodwind instruments. It’s sort of the odd one out. Can you identify it?

Dmitri Shostakovich: Waltz No. 2 - Carion Wind Quintet

COMPOSING TASK

Using the Chrome Music Lab Melody pattern tool that I introduced to you in the live lesson try to create the opening of a well-known tune. For example; Happy Birthday, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Ode to Joy.
